MEET THE ADOPTABLE HERD

Trinity Rescue and Equine Sanctuary's Winding Creek Farm is dedicated to offering rehabilitation to its residents in preparation for their adoptive homes.  Each rescue is provided a specialized rehabilitation and training plan focused on preparing them for their ideal adoptive home.  Once the horses have achieved their rehabilitation and training goals, they are made available for adoption.

ADOPTION PROCESS

1

We will only accept applications for the rescues listed as "Available for Adoption" on our website.  Horses not listed are either still rehabilitating, in training, or  have been deemed a Sanctuary horse based upon their special needs.

2

Prospective adoptive families should review the available adoptable horses and submit an application for that rescue via the link provided.  Only fully completed Pre-screen applications will be reviewed.  Partially completed applications will not be considered.

3

Within 7 days, you will receive an email advising you if your application was approved or declined. Please note: For those applications we are not able to approve, specific feedback on the determination will not be provided in order to protect the integrity of our screening process. If your Pre-screen application was approved, you will be contacted to come out to the farm for an initial meet and greet with the rescue(s) you are interested in adopting. This meeting is critical to determine if there is a positive connection between the rescue horse and prospective adopters. If there is a positive connection between the rescue horse and potential adopter, a second meeting will be scheduled for a test ride (if rideable) or a second one-on-one visit.

4

After meeting the horse you are interested in adopting and completing a test ride/second visit, if there is mutual agreement that the rescue horse and the prospective adoptive family are a good fit, the next step will be to have a home visit completed at the boarding facility/private farm. The purpose of the visit is to ensure it is a safe and appropriate environment for the particular rescue horse being adopted.  NOTE:  We will not adopt any rescue out to a single horse home.  Horses are herd animals and must have at minimum 1 other horse as a companion at any adoptive home/boarding facility.

5

Upon completion of a successful home visit, the adoption application will be reviewed by our Adoption team and a final decision will be made at that time. The prospective adoptive family will be provided with a copy of the Adoption Contract and a date for completing the adoption/transport of the rescue horse to their new home will be scheduled at that time. The adoption fee will be due at time of Adoption Contract . Our adoption fees are flat fee and non-negotiable to ensure the financial capability of our adoptors, as well as to ensure our rescues are protected from slaughter.
